Bronze, Timeless, and Local: Rubin Peacock at the VMFA
Rubin Peacock’s Untitled Totem is now part of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts sculpture garden—the first work by a Virginia artist to join the VMFA grounds. Rubin designed “Lazarus II,” a 6 ft. bronze sculpture for the Branch Museum of Design in Richmond, Va. Biomorphically shaped, “Lazarus II” includes fluid abstract forms derived from nature.
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley Installs Large-Scale Bronze on “The Trails”
Commissioned by two prominent philanthropists in 1982 for their residence in Richmond, VA, Rubin Peacock’s “Pentangle” seems anciently rooted in its new hilltop home at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester. On loan from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, “Pentangle” was recently installed on The Trails of the SVM.
